This Sunday, July 27th Monmouth Park offers up its premiere graded stakes race day of its summer meeting that will be capped off by the $1,000,000, GI William Hill Haskell Invitational Stakes, for 3yo’s only, going 1 1/8 mile over the Monmouth Park main track!

The GI Haskell will also double as a “Win and You’re In” Challenge race for this year’s $5,000,000 GI Breeders’ Cup Classic tilt set for Nov 1st out at Santa Anita Park, once again!
Untapable , at 2/1, brings her 4 graded race winning streak into this Sunday’s race which includes her most recent wins in the GI Mother Goose and GI Kentucky Oaks where she was the truly dominate winner in both outings. She’ll test herself against the boys here as the lone 3yo filly in this race bringing a big kick finish to this 2-turn tilt. Look for her to be a heavy post time favorite as she’s looking to have a Rachel Alexandra moment here on Sunday!
Wildcat Red, at 10/1, winner of the GII Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream last winter, then lost the GI Florida Derby in the final jump to an up the rail Constitution back in late March. He then had a very poor finish in the GI Kentucky Derby coming next to last but rebounded to the winner’s circle again in the Quality Road Stakes at G/P last out. 1 1/8 mile is the max for this one and he loves it up front early too!
What would a GI Haskell be without a Bob Baffert entry, as Bayern, at 5/2, will ship in from the left coast for this GI event. After just an awful GI Preakness appearance 2 back he snapped right back with a win in the 7f GII Woody Stevens Stakes on Belmont Stakes day running off to a powerful 7 1/2 lengths win in a snappy winning time of 1:20.75. He too looks to be an early table setter but we are just not sure of his staying power at 2-turns!
Social Inclusion, at 8/1, has been 3rd 3 times in the row now in the GI Wood, GI Preakness and last out in that same GII Woody Stevens this year. He is looking for a break through performances here but may only find a home on the board here. Not an early speed type here as he appears to be a picking up the piece type mostly!
Albano , at 6/1, is one you might remember from the Fairgrounds Derby Trail this winter where he seemed to be in the middle of all those big graded event there this year. He is the winner of the GIII Pegasus Stakes prep here last out winning by more than 6 lengths. Tends to like to go early and should have no trouble at this distance, either! He should find a home in one your exotics, too!
Irish You Well, at 12/1, 3rd in the GIII Peter Pan and 3rd in the GIII Illinois Derby this year, won the other Haskell prep race here at Monmouth Park this season in the Long Branch Stakes by a holding on 1/2 length. He has been up closer on the early pace of late but that might not be the best strategy here on Sunday! He could be a nice super filler at the right price!
Just Call Kenny, at 10/1, was a coming 2nd in that same Long Branch Stakes here last time but had to settle for 2nd best that day. Looks like the extra distance here might be to his advantage here but this is some pretty tall company he is running in here on Sunday. Another super filler at a good price!
Medal Count, at 8/1, winner of the GIII Transylvania Stakes at Keeneland this spring then got caught late in the GI Bluegrass Stakes settling for 2nd behind the late charging Dance With Fate. He then finished a first tier 8th in the GI Kentucky Derby after being shuffled back early on. He did however come a solid 3rd in the GI Belmont Stakes last out just a little more than a length off of Tonalist but 3/4 length closer to the line than Derby and Preakness winner California Chrome! Tends to like to go early too and for us he is a true dark horse here on Sunday!
Encryption, at 20/1, 2nd in the GIII Pegasus Stakes here 2 back then a decent 3rd in the that same Long Branch Stakes last out is bringing graded and track experience to his 5th lifetime outing! Likes it up front early too but he’ll find a big crowd there is Sunday!
So, lots and lots of early speed here for this year’s GI Haskell Invitational Stakes so look for the survivor of the that early speed duel to come home 1st as this doesn’t appear to be a closers race to us!
